1. Snowshoeing

Leave your skis and snowboard behind and go off the beaten track on snowshoes!

Snowshoeing is a great way to explore the unspoilt areas of La Plagne, away from the busy pistes. It’s also a fantastic option if you don’t fancy skiing or snowboarding but still want to get some exercise.

Guides will take you to remote locations where you can spot local wildlife up close and enjoy spectacular scenery, including panoramas of Mont Blanc and the Beaufortain.

The ski school offers both half-day and evening snowshoe treks, providing all the necessary equipment. They also offer a full day in the wilderness of the Beaufortain.

This activity is suitable for anyone aged 18 and over.

3. Helicopter tours

A fantastic way to see the resort with your friends and family and a great way to entertain any non-skiers in your group.

Experience the beauty of the mountains by taking an amazing tour in a helicopter to view stunning, remote locations. Get a birdseye view of the Espace Killy and Three Valleys ski domains and their nature reserves as well as the Mont Blanc Valley.

You can choose a 10 minute, 30 minute or 60 minute flight

  • 10 minute heli scenic tour – Depart from your resort and circle the parameter of the nature reserve, with views around your resort and surrounding mountains.
  • 30 minute heli scenic tour – Departing from your local resort and adventuring further afield to surrounding glaciers, resorts and national parks.
  • 60 minute heli scenic tour – Not only is this a fantastic experience giving you time to really take in the moment and the scenery, it allows us to fly low over some simply stunning glaciers and down to the base of Mont Blanc for a tour of this awe inspiring mountain range before completing a loop of Italy and heading back into France.

4. Taxi Ski Service

State-of-the-art Taxi Ski chair makes the slopes accessible to everyone

Popular with those who are unable to ski safely on the mountain unaided, the Taxi-Ski programme (AKA tandemski) connects you to the slopes via your guide’s skis. Offering excellent control on all slopes, the Tessier bucket seat provides ultimate support via an adjustable harness. Thanks to a specially-designed locking system, chairlifts are now also hassle-free, meaning you can remain seated and in safe hands right to the summit.

Oh, and for a safe and comfortable journey, remember to wrap up warm in your ski or snowboard clothing, gloves and winter boots. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

5. Heliskiing/boarding

For backcountry adventures, this independent company operates in and around the following three heliski destinations: Valgrisenche, The Courmayeur Valley and the Col de Petit St Bernard Pass. They have pioneered 32 drop zones within these three broad valley regions giving you a huge choice of terrain, snow conditions and mountain orientation to ensure you have a day best suited to your ability and preferences.

You can choose to have one, two or three drops depending on your budget, fitness ability and experience!

  • One drop heliski – For those skiers and snowboarders who are looking to try heliskiing for the first time or those who are looking for a quick heliski hit away from the crowds without breaking the bank.
  • Two drop heliski – Two drops for those that have a little more fitness, off piste experience and money to spend.
  • Three drop heliski – Three longer flights allow you to get higher and further into the backcountry to find THE best snow and best terrain far away from lifts, roads and other people.

There is no limit in place for the number of people that can book, however, generally there are four clients per helicopter plus a guide. Their guides are happy to supply you with any of the equipment needed to make sure you have the perfect experience. They also provide you with transceivers, shovels and probes.

6. Patinoire (Ice Rink), Montchavin les Coches

The skating rink in Les Coches is back on ice for new adventures! Closed for a few years, this covered skating rink is a great activity for your apres-ski (or your kids').

Located on the ski area of La Plagne and just a few steps away from the village of Les Coches, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Haute-Tarentaise valley while having fun skating.

7. Bobsleigh Track

Unique to La Plagne is the fantastic bobsleigh track, open every winter between mid December and mid April.

Experience the thrill of bobsleighing for yourself!

Take the Bobraft – a four-seater vehicle that reaches speeds of 80kph; the Mono-Bob – a single seater vehicle, piloted by yourself that accelerates up to almost 90kph (if you dare...); or the Taxi Bob – driven by a professional racer this replica of the four-man competition bobsleigh will give you a taste for speed as you experience 3.5G and over 100kph!

Situated halfway between Plagne 1800 and La Roche, the track was built for the 1992 Winter Olympic Games. Since the Olympics the track has reopened every winter for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton. It has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors over the years and hosted a multitude of international competitions. It is the only one of its kind in the whole of France.

Due to the extreme velocity and adrenaline pumping twists and turns of the bobsleigh there are age and health restrictions imposed. Enquire before booking if you are under 14 years old, pregnant, or have any heart/back problems.

Ski Joering La Plagne, Montalbert

8. Ski Joering La Plagne

This company offers ski joering excursions where you're pulled along by a horse on your skis. It doesn't matter what level of skier you are or your age, this is something the whole family can try.

They're open from mid December to the third week of April each year.

Based in Planchamps, Plagne Montalbert they off ski joering for 23€ per person, 1 hour walks for 25€ or group rides for 13€.

Offering you the chance to come and enjoy one-hour of amazing runs through the heart of the mountains after the slopes have closed!

Enjoy all the thrills of motorsports in the snow at over alt. 2000m ... The ultimate sensation of freedom!

It costs 95€ for a skidoo with one or two persons (30€ for a passenger) for an hour.

Eco Friendly Hybrid Piste Bashers in La Plagne

10. Snow Grooming Driving Experience

This is a real treat for anyone who ever wanted to ride in a piste basher or snow grooming machine. These huge machines are available for a 20-minute ride for adults and 10 minutes for children.

You'll get a briefing on the machine and then for adults, the chance to drive it. Kids get to ride along.

This activity is available every winter from mid December to the end of April, and you can take part every day of the week (subject to availability and weather conditions).

It costs 60€ per adult with a driving diploma at the end and 30€ for children.

Outdoor ice skating fun for all the family in the resort of Plagne centre

Enjoy some open air ice skating, located in Plagne centre. Adults and children from aged two years are welcome on the ice.

It's a natural ice rink with a section cordoned off for beginners where you can enjoy skating or playing ice hockey with friends. There's also a cosy cottage where you can take a pit stop and enjoy a relaxing drink in the bar and restaurant

Penguins and chairs are available to rent. 

They're open every day throughout the season.
