Born in Bourg Saint-Maurice and member of the Club des Sports de La Plagne, Marie Martinod won the silver medal at the ski halfpipe event yesterday with a 92.60 score, just behind Canadian Cassie Sharpe's 95.80.

Martinod had already secured the silver medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics while, only last year, she won the X Games, the Globe de Cristal and got second place at the Halfpipe World Championships in Sierra Nevada.

Marie left the sport in 2009 to give birth to her daughter and her comeback has been more than impressive. She actually referred to that when celebrating her podium at Pyeonchang in an important message to all the women in sport: "you can be a woman, you can have kids and you can do it, feel good about it, and come back."

La Plagne is the resort in France that has sent the higher number of athletes to the 2018 Winter Olympics
