Eight Helicopter Rescues in a Day for PGHM
Courchevel based PGHM rescue services on call
The Courchevel based PGHM (mountain rescue services) had a heli of a busy day with eight aerial rescues performed in the Tarentaise valley.
In the Les Arcs backcountry, a thirty year old off-piste skier called for help after suffering a knee injury - the rescue proved particularly difficult for the helicopter pilot as the skier was located just under the Aiguille Rouge cable car and close to the rock face. Nevetheless the skier was safely evacuated and taken for medical treatment.
Elsewhere the PGHM were also called in to rescue a 28 year old man who suffered a head injury with loss of conciousness, after a fall whilst skiing in the Montchavin ski area of La Plagne.
Over in Les Arcs again, this time in Villaroger an English lady skiing off-piste on the Grand Col suffered a knee injury and required transporting to the hospital in Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
If you are venturing off-piste or simply skiing the pistes be sure to have the PGHM rescue services number to hand.
