We've listed the major annual La Plagne events below, but you can also check our Events Calendar for the latest updates.

January Events in La Plagne

La Gordzerette Climbing Festival, Champagny en Vanoise

This is the month the locals get their town (and slopes) back, for a little while anyway. January is a great time to visit the resort, there are a couple of skiing competitions on, which are great to watch whilst you're up the mountains, but generally it's quieter and the cold temperatures keep the snow nice and crisp.

Gorzderette
This is an ice climbing and winter sports festival that takes place in Champagny en Vanoise. Amongst the activities available are hay sledding, snowshoeing, orienteering and cross country skiing. The evenings feature entertainments and demonstrations. Dates & details.

February Events in La Plagne

Get lucky this Valentines Day

February is school holidays time and the resort is full of families enjoying their Spring half-term break. There will be lots of activities and events put on by the ski companies and the tourist office, so be sure to keep an eye on our Events Calendar. It's also time for the Born to be Show - a 'must go' event if you are in resort.

Born To Be Show
Along with the Super Slalom, the Born To Be Show is probably the biggest annual event in La Plagne’s calendar – a celebration of the resort’s Club des Sports and its athletes (many of whom have medalled at Olympic and world-class level). The show tends to feature ski and snowboard demonstrations by the area’s up-and-coming young sports stars as well as some of its more established competitors. There is also a prize draw to win a car, as well as the obligatory fireworks show to close-off the evening. Dates & details.

Valentine's Day
There will be no shortage of places to go to celebrate with your loved one whilst in the land of romance. Be sure to book early if there's that certain spot you would like to go with your special someone. Dates & details.

March Events in La Plagne

Rando Challenge

A busy month in terms of events happening locally, take a look at our Events Calendar for what else is on.

Rando Challenge – Les Diables Bleus & Triface
The final two events in La Plagne’s Rando Challenge take place this month and should make for a thrilling conclusion to this four-stage event which started back in January in Champagny-en-Vanoise.

The first – the Triface event – has competition and leisure versions, and is made up of a sequence of three circuits that correspond to the ascent of three peaks around Plagne Centre: Grande Rochette, Verdons and Bécoin. If you are tired at the end of the first circuit, don't worry: stop and have a hot drink at the base camp in Plagne Centre and you will still be ranked. The more persistent can try to complete the three circuits and be among the finishers. The next - Les Diables Bleus – features another uphill battle on two courses rising either 450m or 1,000m up the mountain. This is no ordinary event as, after the gruelling climb, the competitors will also race down a challenging off-piste itinerary to the finishing line. The course follows the old track used by the seventh battalion of the Mountain Infantry – so most definitely a tough event and not one for the faint of heart.

The overall winner of the four challenges will be crowned later at a prize-giving normally held in Plagne Centre, marking the conclusion of one of the toughest ski touring events in the world. Dates & details.
