More information about the investment La Plagne's ski area has come to light this week, with the release of the 'current vision' of how those plans might transpire over the next few years.

You may remember in March this year that we talked about plans for Aime 2000 and Plagne Villages ski lifts which were under debate, and then finally approved. Since then work has been taking place on the new Envers ski lift to get it finished in time for this winter and the changes to Plagne Villages could be taking place in 2018, but the plans don't stop there.

SAP have budgeted €220 million on improving a large proportion of the ski area in La Plagne, which they say corresponds to objectives such as simplifying the lifts in Montchavin, giving secure access to the glacier at all times, taking into account an increase in the number of new tourist beds and as a result the overall increase in volume of skiers using the lifts.

Part of the investment (€12 million) will be spent on better facilities and equipment for creation of artificial snow, allowing more of the ski area to be kept open for longer, especially at the start of the season.

The dates for developing each lift are by no means set in stone, as the investment relies on the profits of SAP in the next few years, as well as the actual number of additional tourist beds created, however next on the confirmed plan is a replacement of the Crozats chairlift and the dismantling of the Carroley chairlift which should take place in 2017.
