La Plagne has settled into a proper mid February rhythm, with the higher villages looking especially wintry after a light refresh earlier this week. The view across towards Bellecôte and the Vanoise glaciers is very much back to white, and there is a steady half term atmosphere around the resorts without it feeling chaotic on the slopes. The season is in good shape here, with a solid base across the Paradiski area and more snow forecast in the coming days.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths are sitting at around 95 cm at resort level across Plagne Centre and Belle Plagne, with approximately 185 cm reported on the upper mountain around 3000 metres. Over the past few days around 10 to 15 cm of fresh snow has fallen above 2000 metres, with lighter amounts lower down. This has freshened up the pistes and improved grip on steeper red and black runs, particularly on north facing aspects.
Temperatures in resort have ranged between minus 2 and plus 3 degrees during the day, dropping to around minus 7 overnight. Up high, temperatures have stayed between minus 10 and minus 5 degrees, helping preserve the snow quality. The freezing level has fluctuated between 1600 and 2000 metres during brighter spells, lowering again overnight. Winds have been moderate at altitude at times, especially on exposed ridgelines, but lift operations have generally remained smooth.
Looking ahead, a more substantial snow dump is forecast from late Friday into Saturday. Current projections suggest 20 to 40 cm of new snow above 2200 metres, with 15 to 25 cm possible around resort level if temperatures remain favourable. This should significantly enhance coverage on lower linking runs and provide a welcome refresh across the entire ski area.
