Snow Report, 14 January 2026

La Plagne feels fully transformed after a significant spell of snowfall that has given the whole area a deep winter look. The wide open slopes and high bowls are looking well filled in, while the forests lower down feel quieter and more enclosed under a fresh layer of snow. There is a settled, mid winter rhythm to the resort now, and conditions on the mountain feel magical while still remaining predictable and easy to enjoy.

Snow and Weather Summary

Snow depths are now sitting at around 200 to 220cm on the upper mountain, with approximately 100 to 120cm across the lower villages depending on altitude. The recent snowfall delivered between 50 and 80cm across the area since last Thursday, with the biggest totals falling above 2000m and some wind redistribution on exposed ridges. This snowfall has significantly improved coverage and snow quality across the entire ski area, with strong skiing conditions on most pistes at all elevations and soft, supportive snow underfoot. Daytime temperatures at altitude have been ranging between -7 and -3 degrees Celsius, with the freezing level close to 1200m, helping preserve snow quality. Winds were strong during the snowfall but have eased, allowing lift operations to return to normal. Despite the excellent conditions on piste, the volume and intensity of recent snowfall have led to very high avalanche risk, particularly in off piste and uncontrolled terrain.

Outlook & What’s On

The outlook for the coming days is mostly dry with a mix of cloud and brighter spells. Cold overnight temperatures should help maintain current snow conditions, especially on higher and shaded slopes, while lower runs may soften slightly during sunnier afternoons. Any further snowfall looks light and mainly focused on higher elevations later in the week. In resort, La Plagne continues its winter programme with family events, evening entertainment and on mountain activities.

Snow Takeaway

Skiing in La Plagne is currently excellent across the mountain, with deep snow, strong coverage and high quality conditions on all pistes. Skiers should remain within marked and controlled areas, follow local safety guidance closely, and avoid off piste terrain unless accompanied by a fully qualified local guide due to the current very high avalanche risk.
