Snow Report, 21 January 2026

By Nye Erskine, Updated

The mountains around La Plagne look full and calm rather than dramatic, with good snow cover stretching across the bowls and into the trees. There is a steady mid winter feel around the villages now, with fewer weather swings and a sense that the season is ticking along nicely. On the slopes, conditions feel reliable and familiar, making for easy, enjoyable skiing rather than anything demanding.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current snow depths are sitting at around 200 to 220cm at altitude, with approximately 100 to 120cm across the lower villages depending on height. There has been little fresh snowfall over the past few days, though light flurries at higher elevations have helped keep the surface snow in good shape. Daytime temperatures up high have been ranging between -6 and -3 degrees Celsius, with the freezing level hovering close to 1400m. Skiing conditions are good across most of the area, with well groomed pistes and pockets of packed powder higher up. Lower and sunnier runs tend to be firmer first thing, then soften slightly as the day goes on. Winds have been light overall, with no notable disruption to lift operations.

Outlook & What’s On

The outlook for the coming days remains largely dry with a mix of cloud and brighter spells. Temperatures are expected to stay seasonable, which should help preserve the existing snowpack rather than cause rapid changes. Any new snowfall looks light and mainly focused on higher elevations later in the week. In resort, La Plagne continues its winter programme with village events, evening entertainment and family activities providing atmosphere without impacting ski days.

Snow Takeaway

La Plagne is offering dependable mid winter skiing, with the best snow holding on higher and north facing terrain where depth and quality are most consistent. Early starts suit the lower runs before they firm up, while spending more time at altitude will give the best conditions over the next few days.
