Christmas week has arrived in La Plagne and the resort feels properly settled into winter now. The mountains above the villages are well covered, pistes are clearly defined, and there is a steady hum of activity as families and holidaymakers arrive for the festive period. Up high, conditions look reassuringly wintry, and there is a general sense that the season has found its rhythm just in time for Christmas.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths across La Plagne are currently healthy for late December, with around 130 to 150 cm reported on the upper slopes and roughly 40 to 60 cm around village level, depending on altitude. Recent snowfall earlier in the week added a useful fresh layer, particularly above mid mountain, helping improve coverage and piste quality. Temperatures have remained cold overnight, often well below freezing at altitude, which has allowed the snowpack to settle and pistes to firm up nicely by morning. Daytime temperatures are slightly milder in the villages but remain cold enough higher up to preserve snow quality. The freezing level has generally stayed below resort height, meaning precipitation has fallen as snow across most of the ski area. Wind has been light to moderate, with no major disruption to lift operations expected.
