Here's why we recommend La Plagne as a family destination.

Travelling anywhere with children can be challenging, and in a ski resort it can be doubly so with things like lift passes, equipment hire and ski lessons to arrange (never mind hats, gloves, snotty noses and the rest...!). La Plagne is a family-friendly resort that makes all these things as easy as possible.

Great family accommodation

When looking at where to book, you'll find some hotels and apartments have connected rooms or suites that are great for families. The hotels and rental accommodation in La Plagne offer top quality accommodation with services for families, and are great for ski in / ski out convenience. This is ideal with kids - less lugging all their ski gear around at the start and end of the day, and perfect for access to beginner slopes.

Towns & Villages in La Plagne

The resort has worked hard to become a part of the officially recognised ‘Famille Plus’ scheme, bestowed only on those resorts and destinations that go out of their way to cater to families and children. They provide activities, services, entertainment and prices throughout resort favourable to those holidaying with kids in tow.

La Plagne operates a great free bus service, that connects the villages, every day throughout the winter season. The two main routes operate from 08:30 right through until 00:50.

Ski Hire in La Plagne

There are lots of beginner areas that are easily accessed, so it's easy to practice with the kids. Plus La Plagne offers favourable lift pass prices to families, making valuable savings. And as a resort popular with families you are guaranteed an excellent range of skis and snowboards for all ages of children in the rental shops throughout resort. The ski techs will happily help you all find what you need from beginner skis up to the top of the range gear.

Nightlife in La Plagne

The restaurants and the majority of bars around resort are child-friendly, making them good for taking children out for dinner or some drinks in the early evening. Most restaurants will have a children’s menu, high chairs, and families are always made welcome. The bars will have wifi so you can get online with iPads and games consoles if required - especially useful for keeping teens who've tagged along occupied.

Things to do in La Plagne

La Plagne prides itself on offering families a whole host of activities away from the slopes. Why not take the kids bowling in Belle Plagne or ice skating (again in Bellecôte). If that’s not enough, there’s winter walking trails, dog sledding, skidoo trips, or even the Olympic Bobsleigh experience. The list goes on and on.

On the days you don't want to ski, head to one of the leisure facilities - Espace Paradisio in Montchavin, Magic Pool, or the Salle Omnisports. Spend some time scaling the climbing wall, swimming, playing table tennis, squash, or simply relax in a jacuzzi.

Aanother way to find some fun is a family sledging session, and there are dedicated sledging zones at Plagne Centre, Plagne Villages and Soleil, Montchavin, Champagny, Belle Plagne, Montalbert, Plagne Bellecote and Plagne 1800.
